Federal prosecutors asked a New York judge on Tuesday to sentence three brothers to life in prison after they were found guilty of sex trafficking and sexually assaulting at least 70 women over two decades. The defendants, Oren Alexander, Alon Alexander, and Tal Alexander, have been in custody since their arrests in 2024.

The twins, who are 39, and their brother, who is 40, were convicted in March on multiple charges including sex trafficking. This specific charge carries a mandatory minimum prison term of 15 years. Defense attorneys recommended that Judge Valerie E. Caproni impose these minimum 15-year sentences for each brother.

Prosecutors argued that the brothers developed a pattern of drugging and raping women whom they invited on luxury trips. The government stated that the assaults began as early as 2001 or 2002 while the brothers were in high school. According to prosecutors, the men identified at least 70 victims who were raped or sexually assaulted by at least one of the defendants.

The defense maintained that the brothers are dedicated husbands and fathers who have lived lives different from the trial portrayal for years. Their lawyers stated that the men admit to insensitive conduct but steadfastly maintain their complete innocence of the charges. They described the evidence as remarkably weak and urged the judge to view the brothers as human beings rather than monsters.

Eleven women testified at the trial, describing how they lost control of their bodies after being given drinks by one of the brothers. The Probation Office recommended that each defendant serve 15 years for every victim they raped. That recommendation would result in 180-year sentences for Alon and Tal Alexander and a 195-year sentence for Oren Alexander.

Eleven victims are expected to provide impact statements during Tuesday's sentencing hearing. Each brother's attorney and the prosecutor will also address the court. The brothers, once known as a high-profile real estate team and the head of a family security firm, will hear their final sentences from Judge Caproni.

The defense expressed confidence that the brothers will succeed on appeal, citing what they called overwhelming prejudice in how the judge handled evidence shown to the jury. They wrote that they fight against injustice and urged the court to consider the full context of the case.
