North Miami store brings back physical movie collecting

Hi Voltage Video opened in North Miami to serve collectors who prefer physical media over digital streaming. The store functions as a dedicated boutique for film enthusiasts who want to own tangible copies of their favorite titles.

Owner Marc Ferman states that the location is the only stand-alone, dedicated video store boutique in South Florida. He describes the inventory as a one-stop shop for those who love movies in physical form. The shop stocks every major format, including vintage VHS tapes, LaserDiscs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs.

The collection also includes out-of-print titles, international imports, and 4K restoration discs from boutique labels. Ferman notes that the stock covers horror, comedies, musicals, and children's films. Many customers are purchasing movies they grew up with to add them back to their personal libraries.

The store features a specific section called Made in Miami. This area contains VHS, LaserDisc, and DVD releases of films shot and produced in Miami and the surrounding areas. Ferman created this section to celebrate the work of local movie-makers.

Ferman observes that younger people are entering the hobby. He reports seeing customers in their 20s and 30s who are starting to collect VHS tapes. These new collectors are often discovering films they have never seen before.

A customer named Tin Man expressed excitement about finding obscure titles at the shop. Tin Man noted that seeing a movie like The Deadly Spawn in person is a rare experience. The owner emphasizes that holding a film in your hand feels different from having a digital file.

Hi Voltage Video is located at 2104 NE 123rd St, Suite 217A, in North Miami. The address is in the 33181 zip code. The store allows shoppers to browse shelves and select specific titles for their collections.
