Apple has added touch controls to its MacBook Pro line, a design change the company had kept for its phones and tablets for years. The updated laptops will begin shipping in stores on Friday, November 6.
The new models arrive in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. The 14-inch version carries a starting price of $2,899, while the 16-inch model starts at $3,399. Education customers qualify for lower pricing on both configurations.
The hardware updates include Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. These chips target video editing, graphics work, and artificial intelligence tasks. Apple states the machines can run for up to 24 hours on a single charge, depending on how the user configures and operates the system.
The displays switch to Apple’s PROLED XDR technology. This tandem OLED setup improves brightness, contrast, and color accuracy compared to previous models. Users can now scroll, zoom, and move windows directly on the screen, replacing the trackpad for basic navigation in creative apps.
The interface also adopts the Dynamic Island from the iPhone. This interactive area sits at the top of the display to show notifications and track ongoing system activities. Apple announced the devices on Wednesday, October 28, during an event in Los Angeles led by CEO John Ternus.
Preorders opened immediately after the announcement. Customers who order now can receive their laptops on delivery day or pick them up at local Apple stores starting November 6.
