Israeli police ruled out a terror motive in the death of a 40-year-old East Jerusalem resident, whose body was discovered in the Wadi Rahal area near Bethlehem. The incident is being treated as a criminal case rather than an attack. Forensic teams from the police and the Israel Defense Forces collected evidence at the scene on Monday. The body will be transported to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute to determine the specific cause of death.
Security forces also conducted overnight raids in Bethlehem on Sunday. Officers arrested three suspects during the operation. One Palestinian man, allegedly affiliated with Hamas, was taken into custody. Police also detained another resident suspected of possessing weapons. Searches of their homes yielded a loaded hunting rifle, IDF uniforms, and various technological items. The suspects were moved to the Ma'ale Adumim police station for questioning on charges of illegal possession of weapons and military equipment.
In a related seizure near Hebron, forces arrested a man in his 30s who possessed a hunting rifle and a large quantity of ammunition. Meanwhile, in the central Israel city of Kalansuwa, police uncovered a cache of weapons stolen from the IDF. The discovery occurred during an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime in the Arab sector. Officers seized one Kalashnikov rifle, three M-16 assault rifles, and eight handguns. The haul also included six fragmentation grenades, two stun grenades, three tactical vests, and thousands of rounds of ammunition. Two family members present at the site were arrested and taken for questioning.
In the town of Rahat, police rescued a man found chained to the floor of his home. The discovery occurred during an operation to locate illegal weapons. The man's leg was shackled to the ground when officers arrived. Preliminary findings suggest his family members, including his brother, chained him due to his drug use. The brother was arrested and brought to the Rahat police station for questioning. The man was freed by the officers at the scene.
All seized weaponry in Kalansuwa has been submitted as potential evidence. The investigations in Bethlehem, Hebron, and Kalansuwa remain ongoing. A police explosives expert handled the grenades found in the central Israel cache to ensure safety during the operation.
