Twenty-five buses, ambulances, and other vehicles are staged in the town of Armyansk, awaiting a mission to deliver supplies to Oleshky later Friday.
Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine's ombudsman and chief negotiator, confirmed the convoy is ready. He stated the goal is to ensure aid reaches every person who needs it, with special attention paid to the elderly and people with disabilities.
The aid mission is taking place under a localized ceasefire brokered by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump. She led discussions with Lubinets and his Russian counterpart, Yana Lantratova.
Oleshky is located just inside Russian-occupied territory in Ukraine's southern Kherson region. Residents of the city became stranded due to heavy fighting and mined roads, leading to shortages of food and medicine that drew global attention.
Moscow and Kyiv have observed the truce in the area since Tuesday. However, both sides remain fully engaged in the wider conflict that began with Russia’s full-scale invasion more than four and a half years ago.
The convoy is positioned in Armyansk, a town in Russian-occupied southern Ukraine approximately 85 kilometers south of Oleshky.
