Donalds votes in Naples
Polls show a narrow Republican lead, but the margin sits within the statistical error range.

Resident Byron Donalds cast his ballot in Naples on Tuesday morning, joining his wife and children at a polling station located near his home. The U.S. Representative, who has served the district since 2021, is running for the Florida governor's office.
First, polling data indicates a small lead for Donalds over his Democratic opponent, David Jolly. However, several recent surveys place that lead within the margin of error. This statistical uncertainty means neither candidate can confirm victory until all precincts report their results.
Second, the campaign centered on specific economic and housing issues. Donalds promoted his support for new data centers and the repeal of homestead property taxes. The latter issue also appears on the ballot as a separate measure. His opponent, Jolly, also campaigned on making Florida more affordable for residents.
Third, Donalds received a public endorsement from President Donald Trump. The Republican candidate is seeking to extend the party's recent history of winning Florida governorships. If he wins, Donalds would become the 47th person to hold that office and the first Black governor in the Deep South.
Donalds plans to gather at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood tonight to watch the returns. He spoke briefly after voting about the pace of the evening. "So honestly, today I'm just taking it all in," Donalds said. "I'm excited about tonight. But really trying to take a moment to enjoy the journey and really reflect on it because it's going to move pretty quickly, and excited to see the results this evening."
The candidate is scheduled to address the public tonight regardless of whether he secures the majority of votes.
