Three men were wounded by Jordanian security forces on Monday morning after police moved to capture them for a deadly attack on a Greek Orthodox church. The arrest operation took place in Karak governorate, a region south of Amman that holds a small Christian community.

The initial incident occurred on Friday in the village of Hammoud. At the time, a funeral service was underway inside the church. Three individuals carried out the shooting, according to the Public Security Directorate. No group has claimed responsibility for the violence, and authorities have not publicly linked the suspects to any specific armed organization.

Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya confirmed the arrests to the state broadcaster Al-Mamlaka. He stated that security services had identified the three men early in the investigation. Al-Faraya said the suspects offered fierce resistance during the raid but were subdued after sustaining severe injuries. He noted that no police officers were hurt during the engagement.

The Public Security Directorate described the suspects as having met their just fate. The agency also declared that terrorism has no place in the country. Reuters reported that the directorate did not release the names of the three men. Officials did not specify any connections to Islamist militant groups.

King Abdullah II ordered a strong response to the attack. He directed authorities to act with an iron fist against what he called the outlaws of Islam. The King emphasized the need to protect the unity of the Jordanian people from those seeking to undermine it.
