Cheshire residents must weigh in on $6.7 million in public works spending on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The town ballot includes five separate appropriation and bond questions. Voters will decide whether to fund projects ranging from a new salt shed to road reconstruction and school safety improvements.

The largest ask is $2.35 million for the town's road improvement program. Voters also face a $1.375 million question to reconstruct Dickerman Road. A $1.1 million bond would replace the salt shed at the Public Works garage. Another $1 million would purchase land for recreation, conservation, or municipal use. The final question, worth $875,000, targets safety and drainage fixes at the Cheshire High School loading dock.

The town clerk's explanatory text breaks down the financial impact on residents. For an average-valued home, the estimated yearly cost is between $5.17 and $13.63 for each individual question over a 20-year period. Polling locations are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Most voters will cast ballots at their regular polling places, while Town Hall at 84 S. Main St. serves as an alternative site.

Local government committees will meet throughout the week. The Town Beautification Committee reviews a ground sign for GTA at 330 S. Main St. and discusses native plant enhancements at Bartlem Park on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Representatives from the Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling and MCCA will provide an overview of gambling trends and risks to the Youth and Human Services Committee that same evening.

The Veterans Advisory Committee holds two meetings in the week leading up to Veterans Day. Sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3, and Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. The Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission also meets Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. As of Friday, agendas for the Veterans and Wetlands meetings had not been posted.

All committee meetings take place at Town Hall. The Beautification and Veterans sessions are in Room 207/209, while the Youth and Human Services Committee meets in Room 207. The Wetlands Commission convenes in Council Chambers.
