Midweek play in the Mid-American Conference resumes Tuesday with a matchup between the two extremes of the standings. The Ohio Bobcats, the only team with a perfect record in conference play, face the Akron Zips, the only team without a single conference win.

Ohio enters the game at 6-2 overall and 4-0 in MAC action. Akron sits at 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the conference. The Bobcats are heavy 14-point favorites, and the over/under total is set at 50.5 points. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at InfoCision Stadium in Akron.

SportsLine ran 10,000 computer simulations for this contest. The model projects 54 combined points, favoring the Over 61% of the time. This prediction aligns with recent trends, as Akron has gone over the total in five of its last eight games and both of its last two contests.

Defensive struggles drive the high point projection for Akron. The Zips rank 13th in the conference in scoring defense. Conversely, Ohio ranks second in the conference in scoring offense. The model suggests these statistical extremes will result in a high-scoring affair despite Akron's overall lack of success.

Akron's offense has been inconsistent this season, but the Zips have managed to score at least 20 points in two of their last three games. This recent offensive output supports the possibility that Akron will contribute enough to push the total over 50.5, even if they are not the favorite to win the outright contest.

The Bobcats are 4-4 against the spread this season. This record indicates that while Ohio is the superior team on the scoreboard, the margin of victory may be narrower than the 14-point line suggests. The SportsLine model notes that one side of the spread hits in more than 50% of its simulations, though the specific side is reserved for their full report.

The prediction model entered Week 10 with a record of 80-77 on its top-rated college football picks. It simulates every FBS game 10,000 times to generate these projections. The Ohio vs. Akron game serves as the opening contest for the Tuesday MACtion slate.
