The South Florida Youth Symphony will host the Liberty Gala on Nov. 21 at the Miami Shores Country Club, located at 10000 Biscayne Blvd. The event marks the 250th anniversary of American music and serves as a fundraising effort for the organization, which has operated for 62 years.
The evening begins with a cocktail hour at 6:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear patriotic clothing in red, white, and blue. Marjorie Hahn, the executive and music director of the South Florida Youth Symphony, described the occasion as a way to honor the nation on its 250th birthday. "This patriotic gala, with attendees in red, white and blue, honors America on its 250th birthday and will be a night to remember," Hahn said.
The organization will also honor Dr. Daniel Andai, an alumnus of the symphony. Andai currently serves as the dean of the Music Division at the New World School of the Arts in Miami and as the concertmaster of the Miami Symphony Orchestra. Hahn noted that Andai originally performed with the symphony alongside his two brothers. "From those early years of orchestral training, he went on to build an extraordinary international career while remaining deeply committed to the musical and cultural life of South Florida," Hahn added.
Hahn stated that Andai’s dedication to developing classical music in Miami and educating future musicians embodies the mission of the South Florida Youth Symphony. The organization primarily serves students from underserved areas of North Miami-Dade and South Broward counties.
Entertainment for the gala will be provided by Jennings & Keller and the Magic City Jazztet. Tickets cost $150 per person. This price includes an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and a three-course meal. Proceeds from the event will support the ongoing music programs of the symphony.
Sponsorship opportunities are available in three tiers. The Prelude level costs $1,500, the Intermezzo level costs $2,500, and the Fortissimo level costs $5,000. The Fortissimo sponsorship includes a table for 10 guests and a private concert at a residence or business event. A limited number of these sponsorship slots are currently available.
Interested parties can purchase tickets or sponsorships through the South Florida Youth Symphony’s online portal or by calling 305-962-2079.
