Trick-or-treaters in the Sarasota area should prepare for sticky conditions on Saturday. The afternoon heat index will reach 90 to 91 degrees, while wind gusts may threaten loose costumes. Rain is not expected to cancel the holiday, but scattered showers are likely during the peak evening hours.

The weather pattern for this weekend follows a week of persistent warmth and cloud cover. Temperatures have held steady in the 80s, keeping humidity levels high across the region. Meteorologists report that this atmospheric stability will continue into the Halloween holiday.

Saturday morning will begin with lower 70s temperatures and mostly cloudy skies. Sunshine will appear by midday as the mercury rises into the lower 80s. Humidity will make the air feel heavier, creating muggy conditions by lunchtime.

Rain chances will stay near 10 percent until 2 p.m. The probability then jumps to approximately 30 percent for the afternoon and early evening. Showers will remain scattered, offering dry windows between bursts of precipitation.

Temperatures will fall from the lower 80s at 6 p.m. to the upper 70s by 9 p.m. Humidity will persist, but the drop in heat will make late-night candy collecting more comfortable. Rain chances are projected to decline sharply after 8 p.m., leaving the final hours of the night mostly dry.

Residents planning outdoor events should monitor the sky after 2 p.m. An umbrella is recommended for those walking through neighborhoods between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The weather service confirms that the storm system will pass, leaving clear skies for the end of the holiday.
