Jamie Lee Curtis appeared on The Tonight Show on Wednesday night to promote her new NBC sitcom, Newlyweds. She joined host Jimmy Fallon for a cold open sketch that mocked the A24 documentary You Can See Everything. The segment featured Curtis in a blonde wig, mimicking the mannerisms of Elizabeth Holmes, the Theranos founder.

Fallon adopted the persona of director Nathan Fielder for the bit. He asked Curtis, "Now, be honest. Do you really want to be on the show tonight?" Curtis responded with a Holmes-like voice, stating, "Of course I do. I love talking to you." The exchange focused on the idea of deception, with Fallon pressing Curtis on her motives for appearing on the program.

Curtis insisted she was engaging with Fallon as a human being. She claimed, "There’s no reason for me to do that. There’s nothing for me to deceive you on." After Fallon concluded the chat by asking if she was being real, Curtis replied, "I’m always being real." As Fallon left the set, she shouted, "Thank God! Fuck, what an asshole!"

The sketch served as a promotion for Newlyweds, which premiered on Oct. 23. The series stars Te'a Leoni and Tim Daly in a story about a free-spirited woman and a professor who marry after a whirlwind courtship. Curtis has a recurring guest role in the show. She also co-created the series with Gail Lerner.

Lerner was fired from the production earlier this month due to creative differences. In a statement released at the time, she called her work on the show "the most joyous TV experience of my life." The timing of the promotion coincides with the success of You Can See Everything, which debuted in theaters on Oct. 16.

The documentary has performed well at the box office, grossing $45.1 million domestically so far. Fielder and co-director Lance Oppenheim worked on the project for more than three years. The film provides a look at Holmes one month before she began an 11-year prison sentence for defrauding investors.
